June was Blacker Family Reunion Time!
Lake Heron, New Mexico
This is Cole and his cousin Jake trying out the kayaks before heading to the lake.
My dad was so excited to share his lanyard making station with the grand kids. Unfortunately they are still a little too young to actually weave them together by themselves. Maybe next year...
All of the kids loved to cram into the hammock and swing forever. So much cousin love.
Happy 7th birthday to Katie bug!
Gotta love Lexi's outfit. Swimsuit with boots is the only way to go when desert/lake camping.
Pinata with cousins was a blast.
Happy faces before the hike down to the river.
I love this picture of Russ and his family.
Throwing rocks into the river is endless fun.
Nathan found a water snake on the shore. The kids were enamored with it.
Lots and lots and lots of dirt/mud while camping. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as these girls.
Grandma hugs.
Cole and Lexi loved playing with their baby cousin Bryce.
Double-fisting it with the s'mores. Ellie knows how to do it.
I think there might be more dirt than s'more in Jake's mouth, but who's keeping track?
This was our view as Mom and Dad drove to the lake, loaded down with kayaks, unicorns and dragons. We were quite the site and the only ones on the lake with rainbows.
Russ, Katie, Dave and I tried to kayak down the river. See how shallow it is? It was about that deep the entire way. We ended up walking more of the river than actually kayaking, and what should have taken us about an hour ended up taking us three hours. We would have been better off with the unicorns.
There were a few hiccups with using our camper the first time, but it was sure nice having it.
Clara has a hard time staying in her sleeping bag.
Macy on the other hand was one happy camper.
She slept better than anyone else (and was cuter than anyone else).
I, on the other hand, needed a nap by the end of the trip.
After all of that together time Dave and I (plus baby) needed a little alone time. Back in Colorado Springs we finally went and explored Seven Falls. It was beautiful, but the stairs were a little steep. I remembered why I don't like heights.
I have been watching the British Baking Show recently and decided to try to make my own macaroons. Let's just say that it was a total disaster, but the kids still ate them. That counts for something, right?
Never a dull moment with Lexi.
We sure love this baby face.
Clara and Lexi attended a mini dance camp together and made some fun memories.
We squeezed in a few last trips to the zoo this summer before our member ship expired.
The kids never seem to get tired of it.
