March was a whirlwind - figuratively and literally. We started things off with a historic "Bomb Cyclone", where the pressure dropped drastically, there was hurricane-like winds, and lots of snow. Because of the wind some places on our property had very little snow, and some places had 4-5 ft. drifts. Unfortunately, Dave had just gotten his tonsils out a few days beforehand so I was the only one capable of digging us out. P.S. - Dave heals like a super-human. I swear he doesn't feel pain like the rest of us and it took him half as much time to recover.
This was our view for a few days:
Macy's favorite new spot in the house. She was so proud of herself for climbing up.
This is the dug out area in front of our front deck. Lexi and Cole are probably playing on top of about 4 ft. of snow.
After the crazy cyclone the warm weather returned, the snow melted fast, and we actually had beautiful spring break weather this year. Mom and Dad came up to visit (and really to save me from going crazy with everyone home). Our first stop was the Children's Children's Museum. It was more like the Children's Zoo with everyone there for spring break. The reinforcements were greatly appreciated.
The next stop was the Denver Aquarium.
Here's Cole posing with our very own "Pout-Pout Fish". If you haven't read the book, you need to. It has become a new favorite in our home lately.
One of Cole's request for spring break was bowling, so we braved it with everyone. I lost badly to all of my children. In my defense, I wasn't using the bumpers. Grandpa wasn't either though, and he beat everyone. I did get two strikes though!
Other Spring Break fun included Cole working on his Pinewood Derby car with Grandpa. We were blessed to have his help in the design and carving departments. Thanks for the trade secrets. ;-)
We also had a good time painting Easter Bunnies.
Clara earned some small ferry figurines from our prize box for behaving so well. Grandma wasn't feeling very well and needed to lay down, so Clara just brought the toys to her. She doesn't need much to keep her happy - mostly just a warm body nearby and something to pretend with. 😂
We also put a new swing set while Grandpa was here. In this picture he was showing Lexi that he could climb up the bars of it just as nimbly as her. Unfortunately he took a nasty fall on the way down. Next time I think he'll leave the monkey business to her.
I had quite the cart-full at Target!
Other March Adventures:
Lexi was star of the week in her kindergarten class and put together this poster to tell about herself. She picked out the pictures to put on it, trimmed them just the way she wanted, put the decorative tape in just the right places, and had me add stars as the finishing touch. She is quite the little artist.
Macy continues to be a happy (but more and more opinionated) little addition to our family. She gets into everything, has recently decided that she loves macaroni and cheese and quesadillas, and screams "MOM!" at the top of her lungs whenever she wants anything. It used to be endearing when she would say Mom...
The kids decided to paint some of the deer bones we found in the forest. Not my idea of a good time but they loved it.
Our little orangutan!
Macy pushed this around once and since then has absolutely refused to try and walk. Every time I stand her up to hold her hands and help her she promptly collapses and will not try to walk. One of these days she's going to figure out that it's more fun to walk on tile than crawl on tile.
Kissy, kissy! Yes, we are both sooooo tired from not sleeping. This girl is teething like mad.
Clara is in her own world a majority of the time and I love it when she gives us glimpses into what's going on in her happy mind. I was getting ready and she followed me into my closet, saw the mirror, and promptly started singing the most random, cute song that never ended. She would glance at herself to see how cute she was and then glance back up at me to make sure I was taking pictures and getting her song on video!
Lexi's artwork was displayed at the public library this month. We took a family trip to go see it and get some new books.
I often find myself stopped in our living room just staring out at this beautiful view. Pictures just do not do it justice.
We had a family home evening lesson on tithing and Lexi came home from school with this. It's nice to know that she is listening some of the time!
Cole got a sharp new haircut.
Cole earned a wood puzzle from our treasure bin and put it together himself. I was impressed!
After a particularly hard day for Macy of teething and no napping Dave scooped her up and exercised on our elliptical with her. I came in to see her sound asleep in his arms as he went back and forth. He is such a good Dad.
Among the crazy weather we also had some really nice weather. kite flying time!
We took a family walk and found the heard of elk that lives in our neighborhood just wandering by. We got really close before they even flinched.
We also visited Crystal, Amber and Sassy. I think Macy shares my fear of horses.
