Fall Break in California!
We had a blast spending a week with Joe and Kaela in California over fall break. We started with San Francisco and then made our way north to Eureka to see the Redwoods. Lots of good memories made.
San Francisco
China town was a big hit! We saw them making fortune cookies and sampled lots of yummy food.
It just so happened to be fleet week while we were there. It led to lots more people and traffic, but we did get to watch the blue angels perform a few different times. It was especially cool to be on the golden gate bridge when they buzzed us.

The Redwoods!
This was a bucket-list trip for me. I have always wanted to see the Redwoods in person and they did not disappoint. The magnitude of these trees is just incredible, and pictures definitely don't do them justice. I especially loved seeing the roots of the fallen trees and how massive they were.
Chandelier Tree
There was no way that the suburban we rented was going to fit through the tree, so we pilled into Joe's minivan and managed to squeeze through. The kids loved it.
Humboldt State Park
It wouldn't be a vacation with Dave without a hike to a waterfall...
It was so humid and wet here that there was moss growing all over these trees. They felt like something out of a Dr. Seuss story!
Tall Trees Loop
This is where some of the tallest trees in the world are. It's hard to hike when you're looking up the whole time! Our family barely made it half way around this Redwood holding hands (8 of us including Jennifer!).
Zoo and Skywalk
Fern Canyon State Park
This was one of the most unique hikes I have ever been on. We walked in a shallow river through a canyon that was completely covered in ferns and vines and moss, with little waterfalls running down the walls of the canyon. It was so beautiful!
Beach
There were banana slugs all over the place. The girls helped cousin Charlotte gather a whole bunch on a rock. Kaela was not amused.

Harvesting Clay in the Stream
Macy's Soccer
Clara was messing around with some filters on Jennifer's phone and decided that she wants bangs. This was her inspiration photo.
Sometimes they get along and help each other...
We got our first egg!!!! We have several "Easter Egger" chickens that lay blue and green eggs. Isn't it pretty?!
Sometimes we get wonky eggs. This one is a double-yoke egg (next to a regular size egg). That poor chicken!
Macy lost her first tooth!
Clara got her braces off, just in time for Halloween candy!
This is the state of our study most days. I can't stand the mess, but it makes my momma heart happy to see the kids creating together.
Love you, Grandma!
It wouldn't be October in Colorado without a little snow! I love that Macy and Benson are out there building a snow man in their sandals with one glove each.
