Warm snow days are the best! This guy was made in a shady part of our yard that melts very slowly, and pieces of him have lasted for almost 2 months.
I tried to learn how to make Mom's caramel this Christmas season. I would not say that I've mastered it, but I'm working on it.
Macy wearing her favorite underwear in her favorite spot eating lunch.
Lexi had her first piano recital this month, and she chose a piece where Grandma could play a duet with her. She was scared to death to get up on stage and it took quite a bit of coaxing, but she did great.
Cole is completely comfortable on stage and loves to sing along with his music. I have no idea where his stage presence and confidence comes from, but it's great.
Dave led his last cub scout award ceremony in December, and Macy thought she was his sidekick, running back and forth up front to him. Cole earned several of his cub scouting badges as well. I don't think we will miss the scouting program, but we are looking forward to the activity days for boys and girls.
Lexi wanted to make Grandpa and Cole bags to hold their piano music for their piano lessons, so her and I worked together for many hours getting them ready. In her words, sewing is hard work!
Clara had a Christmas preschool program that we came and listened to. I'm not sure that she said one word while she was on stage, but she was happy to see us supporting her and to see her friends.
Happy 35th birthday to me!
After Lexi saw how fun Clara's Candy Land birthday party was, so asked for one just like it, so we had round 2 of Candy Land partying. It was much easier the second time around since we were able to reuse all the decorations.
Lexi in her birthday dress from Grandma Beutler.
Our family and cousins were here to help Lexi celebrate on her real birthday. Her favorite presents this year was a big kid scooter and the friendship bracelets her cousins made her.
We saw Santa a couple different times this year. Once at Sam's Club eating pizza with Mrs. Claus (Clara was flabbergasted that they had to eat too), once at Bass Pro Shop, and once at the ward Christmas party. Let's just say that at least one person was not so happy to see Santa in each encounter, but overall the kids were happy to get to talk with him.
Merry Christmas!
We had all of the Blacker side of the family come stay at our house for about a week during Christmas break (we just missed Bryan, Aubri and Jade). It was so fun to see everyone again! Cousin time is always the favorite.
Our master closet converts to Clara's bedroom when we have lots of people staying with us. She loves it.
My brothers brought their hunting spoils to share with us. We have beef, bore, caribou, and salmon, with all sorts of yummy seasonings and gravies.
The guys also tried to cook turkey in a pit. The ground wasn't lined and it didn't quite work, but luckily it didn't take too much longer in the oven inside to finish up.
We went caroling to a blind woman in Mom and Dad's ward, and she loved to hear all of our little squeaky voices.
Russ and Dave conquered the incline.
A visit to our favorite horses, Amber, Crystal, and Sassy.
We attempted to have a family talent show as well. Let's just say there is a lot of budding talents that still need a little bit of development.
Gingerbread houses with Grandma!
Our nativity play this year included a donkey with a real deer hide, a shining star baby, and a brand new baby Jesus.
Christmas Morning!
It was chaotic, loud, and oh so fun.
