September was a month of finding a new normal for us. After retiring and finally selling their home in Albuquerque, my parents moved in with us. It took many trips back and forth to their storage unit and lots of inventive ways of transporting things (like my dad's work benched on top of my van), but they finally got settled. The kids have been asking when this was going to happen for what feels like forever, and we are very glad to have them with us now.
Macy and Clara. Cute sisters sharing a snack and a show.
It did not take long for the kids to take advantage of bedtime stories from Grandpa and Grandma.
This goes to show that it doesn't actually matter what you're reading, but how you're reading it. Here Grandma is reading the girls a Halloween magazine.
Happy 61st Birthday, Dad!
Macy thought Grandpa needed a little extra help getting his salad in his mouth...
Double-fisting it. This is serious business.
One last trip to the zoo before it gets too cold.
With Mom and Dad here Dave and I finally got a chance to hike the incline together. He had done it before, but this was my first time. We made it up in under and hour, which counts as success in my book!
Macy has as much personality as her siblings, and I love watching her when she thinks no one is looking. A shower cap, one shoe on the wrong foot, and my little ponies make a happy one year old.
After going through her "rip my hair out" stage, Macy insists on wearing a bow (or three) most of the time.
She's also obsessed with her big sisters' underwear and can often be found wearing several pair over her clothes.
Clara was getting ready for school so Macy thought she better too.
Macy and Lexi baking in the pretend kitchen at the library.
Clara is serious about finishing every last drop of her smoothie.
We recently took Clara's screen out of her window in her bedroom so she could get out in case of a fire (yes, we did practice our family fire drill!). However, removing the screen left a small gap between the window well grate and her actually window, accidentally creating a bunny trap. One day we opened Clara's window and she freaked out because there was a dead bunny in it that she wanted to save. Dave was thrilled though, seeing as his real bunny trap hasn't caught one rabbit while Clara's window well is up to three. They eat our raspberries, flowers and garden, so they're not very welcome around our house.
We were able to visit Lexi at school for field day and she was thrilled to be able to show off her baby sister to her friends at recess. The whole group of them would just follow Macy around and dote on her. Cole loved a visit on his field day too, but we didn't catch any pictures of that day.
I have no idea how sitting like this is comfortable, but I often find her practicing in this position.Silly, flexible girl.
Cole and Lexi had a "Dress like a Tacky Tourist" spirit day at school. I think they nailed it.
