Trek
Cole and Lexi were able to participate in Trek with our ward this summer (in Wyoming). We are so grateful for good leaders and volunteers who donated their time and talents to help our children have forever memories and spiritual experiences.
Lexi's family made a stop at Buck-ee's on the way home.
The day after Trek Cole started having stomach pains. Turns out he had appendicitis, causing him to miss the first couple days of his high school career. It was not a fun experience, but we are so grateful that he didn't have this happen while he was in the middle-of-nowhere Wyoming on Trek.
Start of School 2026
Eventually Cole made it to his first day of Freshmen year! 9th Grade, Pine Creek High School.
Lexi is starting her first year of middle school, 7th Grade at The Classical Academy.
Clara is starting 5th Grade and Macy is starting 2nd Grade, both at The Classical Academy - Central Elementary. They wanted to match for the first day.
Benson started Pre-K this year at Sunrise Methodist Church. He was so excited to start school like the rest of the big kids!
Macy's Soccer
Macy tried out for the competitive soccer team this fall and made it. She is on the youngest team and the first tournament was brutal (she's playing girls a year older than her), but she came out smiling and still talking about how much she loves soccer. Her teammates are quickly becoming her good friends.
Boating with Blackers
So much fun on Lake Pueblo with cousins. Clara and Macy even got up on the knee board!
Clara and Dave partied at a daddy/daughter Luau for activity days.
Roller-skating Fun...not Cole's favorite, but the other kids love it.
Michael and Samantha Visit
Michael and Samantha came for a visit the end of August. We tried to take them to Labor Day Lift-Off, but the weather didn't cooperate. Instead we got doughnuts, hiked in the Garden of the Gods, and went to the Penny Arcade in Manitou Springs.
We took Mike and Samantha to see Little-Big Town at the Ford Amphitheater.
Dave's 45th, Mom's 66th & Dad's 67th Birthdays
Dad made Mom a wheel of kisses from all of her grandkids for her birthday, with all of them blowing her a kiss and saying what they love about Grandma.
August Family Fun
I love seeing Macy read in her porch swing in the summer.
Macy and Lexi and I had the sacred blessing to go and serve a woman in our ward who was in hospice. We went and painted her nails and curled her hair to help her feel beautiful before she passed away. Hopefully these girls felt the importance of their service.
Clara participated in a choir camp with TCA this year.
Only Clara would see an avocado skin and make a darling avocado sail boat out of it.
This view of our backyard feeds my soul. God is good and has created a beautiful world for us.
The view out of our other windows is just as beautiful!
Haircuts for Benson and Macy!
Grandma found one of Benson's missing Slothy's! This is one happy boy.
Clara was having fun doing self portraits with my phone.
We got a few new chickens to add to our flock this fall.
I found this classic photo of my sometime in early elementary school (maybe when I was 7 or 8?).
