February was a rough month for Macy. At the beginning of the month we went to church, and they had a giant Costco-sized bottle of sanitizer at the entrance to the chapel on a little table for everyone to use before they entered. Macy went to get some sanitizer, and there was a clog in it that released when she pushed it down, and a big squirt shot straight into her eye. It was SUPER painful for her, and we tried rising it out under faucets several times that day, but she said it just kept hurting her and it wasn't feeling better. It turns out that the sanitizer has the effect of a chemical burn on the eye, so we took her into the ophthalmologist, and he basically pinned her down and took a firehose to her eye several times to try and get the remainder of the sanitizer out. We went back lots over the next couple weeks to make sure that it was healing alright. The good news is that there wasn't any permanent damage from the sanitizer. The other good/bad news is that we discovered that Macy has a pretty severe stigmatism in one of her eyes and really needs glasses (completely unrelated to the sanitizer incident). Apparently she has been seeing things like you're looking through a diagonally slanted funny house mirror. When she first put on her new prescription glasses and looked at my Mom, she said, "Grandma, I see you.", and held her hands straight up and down parallel, like she was seeing her upright for the first time. Poor thing!
Happy 3rd birthday to our Macy girl! She was spoiled rotten with pizza, presents, pink and purple birthday cake, and lots of love. Despite her hurt eye, I think she had a pretty good day. Her new water table was the favorite gift this year.
These were our makeshift glasses while her eye was healing - little pirate!
Benson is one happy camper when we briefly remover his Pavlik harness to change his onesie! He wasn't such a happy camper when we had to put it back on.
Benson, Macy, and even Mac love the baby bouncer!
Clara is the cutest kindergartener alive. She also makes a pretty cute 100-yr-old!
Macy was pretty excited she fit in Lexi's new swim team swim suit.
Cole worked hard on his shark/sloth valentine box for school.
Dad and I were able to get our COVID-19 vaccines this month - sooner than we were supposed! Dave's group manager called and apparently the hospital had extras that were going to expire so we got to come in last minute and get it.
Macy loves her some avocado. (You can't please everyone - you're not an avocado! -One of my brother Russell's favorite sayings.)
Lexi received some yarn from Grandma Beutler as a Christmas gift and is making a tie blanket out of it. She was focused and worked hard to get it done!
Lexi always asks for the biggest crepe, so Grandpa made her one bigger than her head. Needless to say, she was a happy camper.
Macy trying to smile with her eyes open after the sanitizer incident.
Macy's first pair of glasses - isn't she the cutest?! Now we just have to figure out how to keep them on her...
There are regularly crazy temperature fluctuations of around 30 degrees difference, but this was the coldest it's been since we moved here in 2015 - Brrrrrrrr!!!!
