Happy 4th of July!
The 4th of July is one of our family's favorite holidays. We have started a tradition of going to the 4th of July parade in Monument with a couple families that we are good friends with (the Waites and the Bensons). The kids decorate their bikes or scooters and ride in the children's parade before the real thing, and then in the afternoon we go to Dave's partner's block party, followed by fireworks in the evening.
Horse Camp!
Lexi and Clara participated in a Horse camp for a week this month and loved it. They learned how to take care of horses, feed them, brush them, bathe them, and the basics of getting on and riding a horse. At the end of the week they put on a little show for us and Macy and Cole were able to take a turn riding it. Let's just say it took Cole a while to get comfortable on the horse. :)
The Zoo!
Cole participated in a Zoo Camp this month, so we spent a lot of time at the zoo as a family too. It is a lot of work to take 5 kids to the zoo, but we sure love it!
Clara is currently obsessed with naked mole rats, so she was thrilled that we got to see them. Macy is trying her hardest to be just as cool as her big sister.
Random Fun
Feeding the ducks (or geese on this particular day) is a family favorite.
Clara went to a fairy birthday party where they had a face painter and made fairy gardens. What fun!
Macy helping Dave mow our acreage.
All 5 kids enjoying each other - a rare occasion that makes my momma heart happy!
Benson is 8 months old!
The Rodeo
Of course, after horse camp, we had to take the kids to the Rodeo. Lexi's current aspiration is to become a Rodeo Queen.
Crockett Family Reunion - Pocatello, Idaho
We rented an air b&b and there was a dog named tank that lived on the premises. I'm not sure the kids remember their relatives, but they remember this slobbery dog!
Benson and his 2nd cousin, Ira (my cousin Jennica's son). Ira's a few days younger than Benson.
The kids enjoyed Razor rides at Uncle Darren's house.
The giant water slide was a hit too!
Macy and Finn (cousin Jennica's first son) drove around in the Barbie jeep together for a long time...
My cousin Lexi had a party pony that she let the kids ride at the reunion. It was a hit!
Macy and my cousin Jennine's daughter, Sarah.
Uncle Darren gave everyone a ride in the tractor scoop. Most everyone had fun.
Grandpa Blacker's Funeral
My Grandpa Blacker passed away this month. It was especially hard on my Dad, but we are grateful that he has joined my Grandma Blacker in heaven and is no longer struggling.
A lot of the grandkids pitched in and bought this floral arrangement for his funeral, complete with John Deere tractors.
This was all of Grandpa's family that was able to attend the funeral. Only my kids and my brother Russell attended from our family, so there are quite a few missing. A pretty impressive group though!
We have a family lunch at Grandpa Blacker's house one last time before they sold it. I was so happy that my kids were able to experience his tree house and slides and swings that I had so much fun playing in when we visited.
Russell and I played a crazy game of kickball with all of our Blacker cousins that were there after the lunch.
Fun times in Idaho
Because of the timing of Grandpa Blacker's funeral and the Crockett family reunion, the kids and I had about a week overlap where we hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Crockett quite a bit.
We made a trip out to rock city with my parents and Russ too.
Russell the lizard catcher is at it again.
We also spent an afternoon playing in the Snake river. We splashed around on a little beach and took our kayak for a spin.
We went over to my aunt Heather's house for a BBQ and unfortunately there was a wasp hive on the handrail of their deck that Clara disturbed unknowingly. She was stung a couple times around her right eye and Cole was stung on his hand. Poor Clara couldn't open her eye for a couple days.
