Happy Spring!
Clara had her artwork displayed at the public library and we had to go see it.
Benson has been having a blast at park play dates and loving the 1:1 attention from Jennifer.
We celebrated "King's Day" with Jennifer this month. It's a holiday in the Netherlands celebrating their King's birthday. We made a traditional cream puff pastry (which mostly turned out) and decorated with orange frosting.
Mac living his best life.
We have seen all sorts of wildlife since moving into our new home. Siting's this month include an Elk and a flock of wild turkeys, as well as coyotes and a fox.
Macy's Spring Kindergarten concert
Time is always well spent at the temple with our children.
Dave and I are preparing to hike from Crested Butte to Aspen this summer, and in the process have found some really beautiful hiking areas around Colorado Springs.
Pinewood Derby
Clara's activity days at church did a Pinewood Derby this year. Of course, she asked Grandpa Blacker to help her make a dog car that looked like Mac. She had a blast creating with Grandpa, and Benson had a blast watching the cars race.
Gymnastics
This is Lexi's first year on the Bronze team, and meets started this month. She is on the second row from the bottom, far left in this whole team picture.
Lexi has also been busy preparing for the Battle of the Books (BOB). She read 40 books and prepared all year to compete with her team again teams from all over the area in answering questions about the books.
Meanwhile, Macy has embraced soccer. She is fierce and fast, and loves to score goals. Also, can we just admire those Colorado Spring Thunder clouds in the distance?! Love it.
Moving into a new house means putting together some new furniture. Benson had to get his tools out and worked on drilling into and hammering into the Styrofoam by me.
Clara loves Nali.
Happy 4th Birthday, Grace!
Jennifer and the kids made a traditional dish called "Hot Lightning" (roughly translated from Dutch) for us for dinner one night. It was basically mashed potatoes mixed with mashed apples seasoned with cinnamon, plus some large meatballs. Apparently they eat a lot of mashed potatoes mixed with various vegetables and some kind of meat. A new experience for us!
We are getting our chicken coop and run set up and ready for our chicks coming next month. Hopefully we can make it secure enough were all the predators will not be able to get our chickens!
There was a solar eclipse that we watched with my parents and Grandma Crockett. Pretty fun.
Cole was part of the underwater robotics club at school this year. He and his team designed a robot (using PVC pipe, propellers, a pool noodle and a motor), and then used a remote control to maneuver the robot through a series of obstacles under the water in the pool.
Macy's favorite part about our church's general conference is the cinnamon rolls I always make for us to enjoy while watching.
Fresh cut feels so good!
