Road Trip - Ouray!

On our way to Ouray, Colorado, we stopped at the Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park. It is about as deep at the Grand Canyon. We went hiking around part of the park - good thing we have little mountain goats for kids!

Let's just say that Benson does NOT like the hiking backpack.

Ouray, Colorado
Ouray is known as the Switzerland of America, and for good reason. It was BEAUTIFUL!
Our first day there, we rented RZRs and went to Yankee Boy Basin, which is probably one of the most magnificent places I have ever been (aside from Switzerland itself).

Box Canyon is the most famous waterfall in Ouray. We walked on walkways into the mountain to get up close and personal.

The kids had a great time on the Baby Bathtubs hike. They walked up and down the stream and played in the little natural bathtubs until it started getting dark.

The Cascade Falls park and hiking around part of the perimeter trail were pretty amazing too.

Ouray has a fun natural hot springs pool that we enjoyed after all the hiking. There was a cute coy pond there as well with lots of turtles for the kids to feed.

We took a day trip from Ouray over to Telluride and hiked up to Bridal Veil Falls. Because of the unusually large amount of rainfall Colorado has had this year, the falls were magnificent!

After long hikes, the kids love getting treats at the different mountain towns that we explore in Colorado. This is us after hiking to Bridal Veil falls in Telluride.

The Gondola ride through the mountains was spectacular!

House Progress
I was needing a break and made some good use out of our new chain saw. I cut down several of the dead trees and branches on our new property and cleaned up the view out the back of the house quite a bit. Felt good!

Dave has been working on a bridge to go over the stream and to the other side of our property.

The bears got our beehive.

Storage about the sports court is done!

The Racquet ball/sports court feels sooo big!

Cole went up to the second story of the house with Dave (on a ladder from the inside because the stairs aren't in yet), and then got scared and wouldn't go back down the ladder. Fortunately the framing guys had their forklift and were willing to give him a ride down!

Happy 4th of July!
Dinner and sparklers with cousins was a hit at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Dave took the older kids camping one night on our new lot, complete with fire, s'mores and all. They had a blast.

More Shenanigans!

We sold Marshmallow and went back to a minivan - just so hard to see around when driving. Plus, we no longer have 4 kids in car seats or boosters, so we fit in the minivan again!

Mac is such a good dog - letting Benson "walk" him in our front yard. Pretty sure Mac was walking Benson, but who's nitpicking?

Fresh peas from the garden.

Macy loves licking the brownie batter out of the bowl.

Clara's bed made up with *most* of her stuffed animals. This girl is obsessed.

Macy doesn't have to wear her glasses anymore!
Today she got the green light from her ophthalmologist that her stigmatism has gone away and her eyes are strong enough to not need glasses right now. Yay! I think I was more excited than she was - she broke so many pairs playing recently and it is so hard to keep track of where she leaves them all the time!
